The first post war luxury car produced by Bentley was the Mark 6 - 4-door standard sports saloon it was produced from 1946 to 1952. Interestingly the Mark 6 was both the first car from Rolls-Royce with all-steel body and the very first completed car assembled in their factory. They were very expensive motor cars, however they were a genuine success and the factory finished car was given the name Bentley Mark 6 standard steel sports saloon. This was a shorter chassis and engine a straight 6 cylinder was a variant of the Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith of 1946. Rolls Royce also introduced the Silver Dawn of 1949. In 1952 the same body was given an extended-boot modification in 1952 to 1955 and the result became known as the R type Bentley of which only 400 were produced.

Jaguar started out in the motorcycle business "The Swallow Sidecar Company" in 1922 by two motorcycle enthusiasts, William Lyons and William Walmsley, making sidecars for before developing passenger motor cars.

They changed the name to Jaguar at the end of World War II because of the unfavourable German SS initials. Then British Motor Corporation took over in 1966. In 1968 BMH merged with Leyland Motor Corporation and became British Leyland. Ford acquired the business in 1990.

Jaguar has, in recent years, manufactured cars for the British Prime Minister. The company also holds royal warrants from Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles. Jaguar produced a series of really successful eye-catching sports cars. The SS and Jaguar the 3.5-litre, 125 hp Mk IV drophead coupe (1940-48) - Jaguar XK120 & Jaguar Mk4 Mk5 (1948-54) - Jaguar XK140 (1954-7) - Jaguar XK150 (1957-61) and Jaguar E-Type (1961-75). The Mark V Jaguar was launched in London at the 1948 London Motor Show. So was the very popular XK120. Interestingly the sporty looking 4 door Mark V outsold the XK120 by some 5,000 cars, compared to 2,000. The smart styling of the Mark V sort of retained the prewar SS-Jaguar lines with the very smart upright chrome grille and of course the shinning, leaping Jaguar radiator cap mascot. The Mark V had a very distinct hint of the recently modernised Bentley look in the style of the front grill. Which is why the look so good together as matching wedding cars. Jaguar reduced the size of the wheels to 16-inch steel-disc type, from 18-inch ones. The side view of the car one could see the distinctive styling touch was a "tuck in" curve at the base of the rear window, which followed the curved profile of the side glass. Then the new idea of adding rear-wheel spats became standard. Jaguar did make a convertible Mark 5 of which is now highly sought after.

Silver Cloud Cars has two of these on the fleet, one in Silver, the other in Old English White.

Classic DS420 Daimler LimousineClassic DS420 Daimler Limousine

The Daimler Limousine Company produced the popularly known Daimler Limousine between 1968 and 1992.

The cars were and still are used today extensively as official state cars in many countries, including of course the British, Danish and Swedish Royals. Today many couple are selecting this vehicle as a wedding cars due the classic look and the seating of 8 people. Interestingly the Daimler Limousine was based on the floor pan of the 420G Jaguar but had the wheelbase extended an extra 21 in. The formal frontal style is very similar to the original Daimler Sovereign, having the Jaguar four-headlight which was first seen on the 420G's predecessor. When one compares the Mark 10, jaguar to the Daimler the radiator grill bears the traditional fluting. The Brides and grooms that select this vehicle are seated on a rear bench-seat behind the glass division in opulent comfort. The dimensions of the vehicle are similar to those of the Rolls-Royce Phantom VI in fact the Daimler limousine was designed to compete with the Rolls Royce. The Daimler pricing was a little under the cost of the Rolls-Royce.
